Viewing party this Thursday night at the Sail Pavilion (bar outside the Tampa Convention Center) from 9:00 to 11:00pm to watch the premier of Triple Rush (see trailer), which starts at 10:00pm on Travel Channel.
Triple Rush – Extended Trailer from Triple Rush on Vimeo.
The show conveniently lands on a night when we are out riding anyhow and I’m pretty sure we can cash in some frequent flyer miles to get them to put their TVs on the right channel at 10:00.
If you’re into it, come out and join us. No RSVP required.
Thursday Night Ride
We will leave the shop (212 E. Cass Street) at 7:15 this evening and travel the usual route through downtown, out to S. MacDill Ave. to Interbay, Bayshore Blvd, Davis Island, Channelside and back…
The group will start together and split into packs of fast, medium and casual riders. Typically the casual riders drop off at the Tampa Convention Center – Sail Pavilion to cool off while the others finish the loop. Speed and distance traveled is entirely up to you.

The weather forecast for this evening looks great. We hope to see you there. Please keep in mind that sunset is scheduled for 7:33 pm, so the majority of this ride will be in the dark. If you are going to participate in this group ride you must have front and rear lights on your bicycle (see Section 316.2065, F.S.). Helmets are strongly recommended.
Meet Anthony G. Our New Mechanic on Duty
Anthony started his bicycle industry career with a humble beginning as a bicycle assembler at Wal-Mart…learning the basics. Soon after, the owner of Pro Serv Assembly noticed his undeveloped skills and took him under his wing. Anthony worked nearly 3 years for PSA where he learned how to build with precision and speed.
From there, he moved over to Bike Works in Brandon to learn the intricacies of higher end bicycle mechanics; maintenance and repair. When City Bike Tampa advertised an opening at the end of July, Anthony was able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to make our final cut and has been with us since early August. Customer feedback through the last 6 weeks with Anthony has been great, while the service and repair side of our business has grown exponentially.
Then next time you’re in the area, please stop in and help us to welcome Anthony. While you’re here, feel free to challenge him with a few technical questions about your bike(s). We like to keep him on his toes!
Bianchis are coming!
Last month we received notice that after a relatively exhaustive application process, BianchiUSA has authorized City Bike Tampa as a dealer for their complete line of bicycles.
Bianchi (pronounced bee-AHN-kee in Italian) is the world’s oldest bicycle-making company still in existence, having pioneered the use of equal-sized wheels with pneumatic rubber tires in 1885. It was founded in Italy in 1885. It produced cars and commercial vehicles from 1900 to 1939 and motorcycles from 1897 to 1967. Bianchi has been associated for 50 years with the Italian Tour de France winner, Fausto Coppi.
Our first order and shipment of Bianchi bikes is anticipated for early October. As a City Bike Tampa Fan and Subscriber, we are offering 10% off of MSRP for any Bianchi bicycle that you (or any of your friends) would like to special order* between now and September 30, 2010.
*Special order means you will need to place your order and pay for it without having actually seen the bicycle in our shop or taken it for a ride. If you are unsure about fitting yourself to the proper size frame, we can help you with a free in store fitting consultation. We recommend you call ahead (813-225-1777) for a fitting appointment.
And remember…

Ride On!
City Bike Tampa opened its 2nd location this weekend. The rental hut beneath the bridge between the Tampa Convention Center and the Marriott Waterside opened yesterday and the momentum continues today from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
BTW – Our shop @ 212 E. Cass Street is closed for the Easter Holiday.
It is going to be a beautiful day for riding, so come out and see us!
Ride on.
City Bike Tampa is happy to announce the launch of regularly scheduled Downtown Tampa History Tours beginning this weekend (August 14, 2009).
Whether you’re a visitor or a Tampa native, you will enjoy our guided tours. Our trained guides are both knowledgeable and fun (not to mention GOOD LOOKING!).

Adult tours are $26.95 and children are $18.95. Bicycle and helmet included. Call us today for the Ultimate Urban Experience (888-48-4BIKE) or reserve a spot online at citybiketampa.com/tours.
Don’t miss out… Ride On!

Painting is done (with the exception of a little touchup here and there). 1100 sqft of tile is still stacked at the back door waiting to get laid this weekend.
The tile is going to have to wait, however because at the moment I’m at the shop expecting a shipment of 11 bikes from Kona via UPS that should arrive any moment now. At least 6 of those bikes will need to be assembled (by me) this afternoon / evening so we can bring them down to Freedom Fest tomorrow morning.
Kellie and I will have a tent setup just a few feet from the new Tampa Bay History Museum on Tampa’s Cotanchobee Park starting at 10am and running to 6pm both Saturday and Sunday. City Bike Tampa is sponsoring FREE 20 minute Tampa Riverwalk history tours this weekend.
Rumor has it that the rain clouds we’ve been sitting under for the past [feels like] 2 weeks are getting set to break. Come down and see us!
If you can get to the Tampa Convention Center a little early, the new Sail Pavilion is set for its grand opening at 10am on Saturday, 5/23/2009.
The Sail Pavilion on the Riverwalk will provide cool beverages, snacks, and relaxation to strollers, joggers, dog walkers, boaters, bicycle riders, conventioneers, hotel guests, Riverwalk explorers, downtown visitors and neighbors. Public docking space is also available for our boating guests.
For opening day festivities throughout Memorial Day weekend guests will be entertained by Steve Jordan while sipping on a variety of beverages including your favorite “Little Umbrella Drink” or a cold beer, soft drink or healthy beverage. Have fun, eat great food, and listen to live music!
It’s a Dog Friendly Retreat complete with stainless steel water dishes, a clean up station and complimentary dog bones. We will also offer Frosty Paws and Mr. Barksmith Dog Smoothies on our Doggie Menu. Bring your four pawed pals and enjoy Tampa’s Riverwalk. We will be open regularly Tuesday-Saturday, 4p-10p, beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
See you there!
