From Aug. 30-Oct. 29, 2010, the Upper Tampa Bay Trail will be closed from Gardner Road to Manhattan Drive.
The closure is due to installation of a drinking water pipeline and Hillsborough County trail maintenance. For the safety of trail users, access to the closed section will be prohibited; the trail overpass at Citrus Park Drive will be closed.
The trail will remain open south of Gardner Road and north of Manhattan Drive.Residents and businesses can follow the project’s progress and the trail closure on Twitter and at www.tampabaywater.org.
There is also a dedicated construction hotline (813-401-0132).
Another great reason to ride with us this and every Thursday evening. Ride on!

Here is the route we will be taking.
Destination start and stop times are posted on the event flyer (download flyer here – 1.69 MB). Hope to see you there…click on the “View Larger Map” link here or in the lower left hand corner of the image below to see the actual route.
This was mapped out as a complete loop that starts and ends at Curtis Hixon Park for the benefit of those who had to drive and park for this event and to also provide a single point of reference for those who may not be so comfortable with Tampa’s Urban Core (UC).
For those of you who have been following City Bike Tampa for some time now, you know that these rides have become somewhat of a big deal, not just for us, but for the 5 carefully selected restaurants that make it into our lineup each time.
This go around we are featuring Sono Cafe (@ the TMA on Curtis Hixon Park), Pizzaiolo Bavaro on Franklin Street, Stumps Supper Club @ Channelside, New World Brewery on 8th Ave in Ybor City and our close neighbor, Fly Bar and Restaurant.
Complete details including stop off times are in the flyer, which you may have seen around town or can simply download in .pdf format here (1.69MB).
This time around we were also fortunate enough to obtain sponsorship from tbt* (*Tampa Bay Times), which has helped us grow our RSVP list to well over 50 riders. At this point, we are expecting close to 100 people on this ride. Details on how you can RSVP are in the tbt* ad above and also in the promo flyer (1.69MB).
We look forward to seeing you this Thursday night!
