Major Bike Theft Incident at Post Harbour Island Apartments This Weekend
A close friend who lives at Post Harbour Island Apartments informed us today of an incident that occurred over the weekend involving the theft of pretty much every bicycle in their gated bike parking area.
Apparently, the thieves cut through the chain link fence then proceeded to cut the cable locks on ALMOST every bicycle in the storage area and got away with an estimated 20 bicycles.
If you were a victim of this attack and have had your bicycle serviced at our shop within the past 2 years, we should have your bicycle’s serial number in our customer database. Give us a call (813-225-1777) if you need that information so you can report it to the Tampa Police Department. If your bicycle is stolen and you are not able to give TPD the serial number from the bottom bracket (or head tube on older bicycles), your chances of recovery are EXACTLY 0%.
Incidentally, our friend who told us of what she found when she went to retrieve her bicycle from the crime scene did not get her bike stolen because it was secured with an On Guard U-Lock that she purchased from us at the time she bought her Jamis Coda from City Bike Tampa. The majority of bicycles that were stolen from the apartment complex were secured with cable locks, which are not worth the time it takes to put them on.

City Bike Tampa Promotes Urban Living
In compliance with state law, we are requiring lights and strongly encouraging locks & helmets. City Bike Tampa’s main location at 212 E. Cass Street will be open until 6:00 the day of the tour if you would like to purchase these items.
Note: This is a BYOB Event (Bring Your Own Bicycle). Participants ride at their own risk. City Bike Tampa, their Sponsors and Restaurants are NOT responsible for cyclists or cyclists’ equipment. We have asked the participating venues to provide food for our guests. The decision to imbibe is left up to each individual rider and will be at their own risk.

April 28th is bound to roll around fast!
Last night’s URT was worth the wait…we totally stuffed ourselves with panini, gelato, wings, fries, salad, the most amazing mac-n-cheese ever, shredded pork, tender juicy beef brisket, cole slaw, steamed veggies, boneless chicken breast, more salad and who could forget dollar drafts!

And how about that hot new collection of I “BIKE” Tampa t-shirts? Last night we gave away an unprecedented $481 in SWAG from the corner of Ashley and Polk at Taps Wine and Beer Merchants. Anyone who thought Kellie would need a few days to recover from last night was dead wrong. Bright and early this morning she was back at it and today secured the following venues for the April 28 ride:

Advanced payment ensures your spot on the list as space is limited to 100 riders. If you would like to pay your entry fee when you arrive on the evening of the ride, we will be glad to accommodate you at a cost of $15 per person (space permitting).
March 31 Urban Restaurant Tour Postponed to April 7
POSTPONED
Due to the inclement weather, we have decided to postpone the Urban Restaurant Tour to 4/7/2011.
Fortunately we have been blessed for a full year now with perfect weather every month on the night of the tour. I am happy to say that this is the very first time we have had to postpone! All of our registered guests will be transferred to next week.
Though some of you will be unable to attend due to the short notice, we do still anticipate a very good turnout.
The itinerary and menu will remain the same.
We appreciate your flexibility with rescheduling and are grateful for your understanding and support.
