PEDEGO™ was conceived in 2007 to create a line of electric bikes that combine style and function to open up cycling to anyone who might otherwise not be getting the benefits from bike riding. Fundamentally, a PEDEGO™ bike is just like a regular bicycle with a quiet built-in electric hub motor to provide additional assistance. Weather permitting, we will be heading out for a 15 – 20 mile spin tomorrow (Thursday, 7/14/2011) night, leaving the shop at 7:15 pm. Here is the route we will be taking. If you have any questions about our regular (not URT) rides, please feel free to give Kevin a call at the shop (813-225-1777).

Apparently, the thieves cut through the chain link fence then proceeded to cut the cable locks on ALMOST every bicycle in the storage area and got away with an estimated 20 bicycles.

If you were a victim of this attack and have had your bicycle serviced at our shop within the past 2 years, we should have your bicycle’s serial number in our customer database. Give us a call (813-225-1777) if you need that information so you can report it to the Tampa Police Department. If your bicycle is stolen and you are not able to give TPD the serial number from the bottom bracket (or head tube on older bicycles), your chances of recovery are EXACTLY 0%.

Incidentally, our friend who told us of what she found when she went to retrieve her bicycle from the crime scene did not get her bike stolen because it was secured with an On Guard U-Lock that she purchased from us at the time she bought her Jamis Coda from City Bike Tampa. The majority of bicycles that were stolen from the apartment complex were secured with cable locks, which are not worth the time it takes to put them on.

Last night’s URT was worth the wait…we totally stuffed ourselves with panini, gelato, wings, fries, salad, the most amazing mac-n-cheese ever, shredded pork, tender juicy beef brisket, cole slaw, steamed veggies, boneless chicken breast, more salad and who could forget dollar drafts!

Due to the inclement weather, we have decided to postpone the Urban Restaurant Tour to 4/7/2011.

Fortunately we have been blessed for a full year now with perfect weather every month on the night of the tour. I am happy to say that this is the very first time we have had to postpone! All of our registered guests will be transferred to next week.

Though some of you will be unable to attend due to the short notice, we do still anticipate a very good turnout.

The itinerary and menu will remain the same.

The NHL Eastern Conference ranked #3 Bolts will face off against the #5 ranked Washington Capitals at 7pm.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will host ‘Go Green Night,’ presented by Waste Services of Florida and Proshred, to encourage recycling and environmental awareness on Monday, March 7 when they take on the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Fans who bring six plastic bottles and/or aluminum cans to be recycled by Waste Services of Florida or items including old Washington Capitals jerseys, hats or t-shirts to be shredded by Proshred will receive discounted tickets at a group rate, including $15 terrace corner seats, $30 terrace center seats or $50 plaza end seats. This special ticket incentive will be available on the west plaza prior to the game. All fans are encouraged to arrive to the game early, as the first 5,000 individuals in Lightning gear will receive a Lightning recyclable grocery bag presented by Waste Services of Florida.

Those who ride their bike to the game will receive one complimentary terrace level ticket to that night’s game versus the Capitals. City Bike Tampa will be on hand giving out free bike safety checks as well as complimentary minor adjustments to all fans’ bikes on the plaza. The bike parking area will be staffed throughout the game. The Friends of Clean City along with College Hunks Hauling Junk will also be present in the Forum West Lot through March 6 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. for any fan wishing to bring an old car or boat battery to be recycled. Individuals who make a donation will receive a pair of tickets to an upcoming event at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Speedling Incorporated will also distribute approximately 2,500 geraniums to any guest that would like to take one home after the game. There will be a table on the concourse where fans can receive information on the Lightning’s green efforts and sign up as one of the organization’s Green Team volunteers.

The Lightning Foundation will also take part in the evening’s festivities, with the donation and special presentation of a bicycle to be used by a Tampa Police Department patrol officer in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

Fans may also enter the Tampa Bay Cycle Words for Wheels contest, sponsored by the Lightning Foundation, at http://www.tampabaycycle.com for a chance to win one of two free bikes, courtesy of the Lightning Foundation. The winners will be announced during an on-ice presentation at the game’s intermission.
