FREE FOOD This Thursday – Urban Restaurant Ride
It is finally here… the much anticipated Urban Restaurant Hop is THIS Thursday (5/27/2010) leaving from our Rental Hut on the Riverwalk @ 6pm.
This organized cycling event is in celebration of National Bike Month. The one we had in March for Florida Bike Month was so much fun and well received that you certainly do not want to miss this one.
This time we’re rolling out to 5 new hot spots around downtown including:
- The Sail Pavilion – Urban oasis located on the waterfront
- Cafe Dufrain – Waterfront bistro
- Stump’s Supper Club – Located at Channelside Bay Plaza
- Pour House at Grand Central - The perfect way to relax with friends
- Taps – Wine and Beer Merchants @ Skypoint

Kick off the Holiday weekend early! Join us for an evening on the town, meet others with similar interests (like bicycling and eating) and help local independent businesses shine while experiencing the ease of taking a bicycle and not a car.
The Small Print
This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike) Event. Participants ride at their own risk. City Bike Tampa nor the restaurants/pubs involved with the event are responsible for cyclists. We have asked the participating venues to provide food for our group. the decision to imbibe is being left up to each individual rider.
In compliance with state law, we are requiring lights and strongly encouraging helmets for the ride.
Lights will be sold and installed at a discounted price of $10.00/set if needed.

Hands-on Basic Bicycle Maintenance Clinics Offered
Two hands-on basic bicycle maintenance clinics are being offered this month
- Saturday 5/22/2010 (9:30 – 11:30 am)
- Tuesday 5/25/2010 (5:00 – 7:00 pm)
Cost: $25/person includes toolkit containing 1 Park Tools Multi-tool, 1 Park Tools glueless patch kit and 1 pair of Park Tools tire levers.
Location: City Bike Tampa Bicycle Shop, 212 E. Cass Street, Tampa, FL 33602.
Lessons Include: Performing pre-ride safety checks, changing a flat, patching a tube, roadside repairs, brake and derailleur adjustments and an overview of proper fitting techniques.

Space is limited, first come, first served. Cost for this clinic is $25/person paid up front to City Bike Tampa (Secure credit card payment offered below through PayPal) to hold your spot and includes an awesome toolkit for your saddlebag and for use during this clinic. You also have the option of paying in person at the shop. Please deliver payment no later than 2 days prior to the clinic you plan to attend.

2010 Hospitality Olympics in Tampa
The City Bike Tampa Hospitality Olympic hopefuls will make their dreams come true today at Raymond James Stadium. With ultra-challenging events like the Toilet Paper Toss and Tacky Tourist Trot, how can we lose?
Looks like the weather is going to be great and we won’t need sunscreen until tonight! If you have the afternoon off, come down to the stadium and cheer us on or join us for some tailgating before the competition.
Can’t leave work until 5? That’s okay…our Thursday night ride is on, so join us at 7pm when we roll out of the shop and blow through South Tampa with a vengeance.

Holiday Hours – Mother’s Day
In observance of Mother’s Day, City Bike Tampa’s bike shop @ 212 E. Cass Street will be closed this Sunday, May, 9, 2010.
The Rental Hut at the Tampa Waterside Marriott Hotel and Marina will be open from 11am to 5pm.

Thursday Night Ride – Route Details
Ready to ride?
We will be leaving the shop (212 E. Cass Street, Downtown, Tampa) again at 7:00 pm this week. Lights are required and helmets are strongly suggested. For a closer look at our route, Mike provided this readout from his Garmin on-board GPS unit:

As usual, we will have 2 groups spinning so no riders are left behind.
We all leave the shop at the same time and the division into fast and not-so-fast packs will happen naturally as we make our way down MacDill and over to Bayshore Blvd. If you bicycle is in need of basic maintenance (like lube or air), something installed (lights, water bottle cage?) or repairs (got a flat?), we urge you to show up early. Not 6:45 pm early…more like 6:00 pm or if you can drop your rig off earlier in the day, that will also work.
