We will be heading out at 6:15 pm this Wednesday (12/16) and Friday (12/18).  Last week’s rides were a great success.  If you couldn’t make it, no worries.  we look forward to seeing you this week.

Night Ride – Hyde Park Christmas Lights!

It’s that special time of year again…

We are going for a ride this Tues, Wed, Thurs and Friday nights! Leaving the bike shop (212 E. Cass Street) at 6:15 pm, heading down Frankin St, around the Convention Center to Bayshore then over to Hyde Park (various neighborhoods), through Hyde Park Village then over to UT and finally back downtown ending  at the shop.

You can bring your own bike or rent one of ours for a special 2 hour flat rate of $13.95 (lights, locks and helmets included).

If you bring your own bike, there is no cost to you, just come out and ride with us.  You will need lights for night riding, its the law. We have light sets available starting at $15.95 and can be installed for you at no additional cost.  Please be sure to show up at the shop at least 20 minutes before closing (5:40 pm) to allow time for light installation so we can leave the shop on time.

This is a family friendly ride, so make a little time for the kids this week!  If anyone wants to go out for adult beverages after 8pm (when the kids head home), we can work out the details of that during the ride.

New Konas Arrived This Week

Earlier this week we received a shipment of 11 new Kona bicycles.  After spending most of the day putting them together, I thought I would take a break and share with you what we have in stock.  THESE NEW 2010 MODELS ARE HOT!

Personally, I am most excited about the new WorldBike.  It has an internal Shimano 3 speed with fat 26″ tires urban tires and a stealthy flat black paint job.  Simple, smooth and sporty.  Tektro brakes, FSA cranks and sealed bottom bracket enhance the performance of this totally understated urban assault vehicle.

Since we opened our doors back in July, the Kona Smoke has been one of our best sellers.  We just received 2 of the 2009′s (20 & 22 in) in gloss black and 1 of the 2010′s (18 in).  The biggest change for 2010 with this model is the new flat black paint, FSA cranks and handlebars with a lower rise.  I doubt these 3 will last long.

Once you get past the hot new red / orange paint and classic raised badge on the head tube, you will see that the hottest upgrade to this year’s Honky Tonk is its Shimano Sora STI shifters.  We have had a 2009 Honky Tonk on our rental fleet since we opened in July 2009 and not only has it withstood countless races and weekend warrior rentals, it has also satisfied some of this market’s most discerning riders through performance and ride-ability.  At just $899, you will not find a better equipped, better built cromoly steel frame road bike for the money.

Don’t forget the Africabike.  We always have plenty of these in stock.  If you have someone on your Christmas list who needs a simple and rugged 3 speed with a low step over, you should give this Dutch style commuter a closer look.

Come on in for a test ride.  We now have a wide variety of styles and sizes to meet the needs of most riders.  If we don’t have what you need, we can get it…in most cases next day.
